This week’s highlights: AMP increasing its exposure to the fast-growing self-managed super, a contrasted H1 2012 between struggling M&A, and equity raising for investment banks vs a performing debt capital markets favouring the Big4. BoQ cancelled plans to sell its $230m non-performing commercial property loans: they will need a new strategy. Weak numbers from the building sector to be monitored by Lenders and Home Insurers. And an update on Australian corporate Credit Default Swaps.
Theme of the week is “car-sharing”. A very embryonic put promising industry in Australia if the right people get behind it. The qualitative rather than quantitative nature of the data available in the public domain required some extra research and modelling effort, but hopefully the result is worth it.
